What Was Project EV’s Christmas Charity Campaign?
Project EV have donated to three local charities through their Christmas Campaign.
Last Christmas, Project EV donated to three local charities who exceed expectations, not only during the festive period but all year round.
After raising money for Cancer Research UK back in October 2022, we were feeling inspired to continue giving back to the local community and were eager to learn first-hand what makes these charities so special.
We donated to three charities local to Burton-On-Trent: The Young Ones, Midland’s Air Ambulance Charity and Burton Albion Community Trust. All three charities work around the clock to provide the help that the local community needs and we feel honoured to have been able to visit, or speak with, these charities.
The Young Ones
We first donated to The Young Ones. They are a small, secular, non-political and non-profit making charitable group, whose purpose is to bring happiness and normality to local children in need – within an approximate 15-mile radius of Burton.
They do this by providing gift boxes for children aged between 0-17, who may not receive anything, or very little, for important times in their lives such as Birthdays and Christmas.
We were lucky enough to speak to the lovely Eileen and Sheila, who took the time to tell us more about the charity and all the things they do. This charity very quickly touched our hearts, to know that without the incredible hard work that goes on behind the scenes at The Young Ones, some children may not receive any Christmas gifts at all – or any other necessities throughout the year.
In 2022, the charity provided an incredible 222 emergency boxes and 360 Christmas boxes to children in Burton-On-Trent and surrounding areas!

Midland’s Air
Ambulance Charity
We also donated to Midland’s Air Ambulance Charity and were lucky enough to visit Tatenhill air base – which is one of the three air bases that the charity operates from.
If you’re local, you have probably seen their iconic red helicopters! On our visit, we were shown around a yellow charity helicopter, since the red one at Tatenhill was out having a maintenance check.
Every year it costs an excess of £11 million to maintain the three aircraft at the bases and it costs an average of £2,950 per helicopter mission. All of this money is completely funded by donations from local people and businesses!
The care that is provided by Midland’s Air Ambulance Charity is so vital because of the speed at which the critical care is delivered. On average, the crew arrive on the scene within 10 minutes!
It was wonderful to see the aircraft and kit first-hand, the crew being so lovely made the experience even more special. We can’t even put into words how much work goes into every mission, and with an average of 13 call-outs per day, we feel nothing but gratitude for the crew and the charity!

They also host a weekly lottery and have numerous charity shops that you can donate to or volunteer at – this volunteering even includes becoming a ‘virtual’ supporter. They also hold many different fundraising events over the year – there are so many ways to help and all the information is available on their website.
Burton Albion
Community Trust
Finally, we donated to Burton Albion Community Trust. Their work is centred around a range of programs to Inspire, Engage and Educate. They deliver opportunities for everyone from the local and surrounding communities to be involved with Burton Albion Community Trust.
Their mission of “making a difference to our communities through the power of sport and the brand of Burton Albion Football Club” is achieved through helping people of all ages to get fit, make friends and try something new.
Since their inception in 2010, BACT’s engagement numbers have grown exponentially, to the point that they now engage with more than 10,000 people per week. This is why Project EV are proud to have been announced as an official Friend of the Community to Burton Albion Community Trust.
We are so excited to express our continued support to the charity over 2023. Watch this space for exciting things to come!
